BRQC-RA08 Pneumatic Robot Tool Changer
BRQC-RA08 is a pneumatic robot tool changer with a published 5 kg rating. Check the complete mounted load, moments, air supply and docking sequence rather than choosing by tool mass alone.

Manufacturer data
Published specifications
The BRQC-RA08 is a pneumatic robot tool changer presented as paired robot-side and tool-side components. The supplier drawing states a 5 kg rated load and a 0.40–0.60 MPa pneumatic locking and unlocking pressure. Both sides list six air circuits. The robot-side component weighs 0.18 kg and the tool-side component weighs 0.15 kg. These component weights must be considered when checking the complete robot mounting load. The supplier notes that D-SUB electrical connectors are quoted separately. Confirm mounting geometry, the required signals and the intended coupling sequence before selecting a configuration; this is an end-of-arm accessory, not a standalone robot.

Specify what the coupling must carry and connect
The BRQC-RA08 record is a robot/tool coupling. It does not include a complete gripper, docking stand, robot flange adapter or validated cell. List every mechanical, pneumatic and optional electrical connection needed by the actual tool.
The published 5 kg figure is a selection starting point. Ask how the supplier defines that rating, what moments and accelerations are permitted and which components are included. An off-centre tool can exceed a moment limit even if its mass is below the headline rating.

Turn the coupling parameters into an interface schedule
| Published item / decision | How to use it | Limit to confirm |
|---|---|---|
| Robot half 0.18 kg / tool half 0.15 kg | The two recorded halves sum to 0.33 kg before adapters, gripper and workpiece. | This mass is not spare payload available to the tool. |
| 0.40–0.60 MPa air pressure | Confirm pressure at the changer under operating flow and the required air preparation. | A compressor setting is not pressure at the coupling. |
| Six pneumatic circuits | Specify circuit assignment, port sizes, flow and permitted pressure for each connection. | Circuit count does not establish flow capacity or vacuum suitability. |
| Optional D-SUB interface | Request pin count, rating, wiring and inclusion in the quote. | Optional electrical connectivity is not a supplied standard feature. |

Design the docking and recovery sequence
- Confirm robot and tool flange patterns, permitted orientation, alignment features and adapter drawings.
- Locate docking stands and approach paths; define position checks before coupling and before tool withdrawal.
- Define lock/unlock commands and the feedback required before enabling the tool or moving the robot.
- Test loss of air, missing feedback, failed docking and interrupted cycles using an agreed safe recovery method.
RA08 and RA10 need more than a payload comparison
The RA08 and RA10 records state 5 kg and 10 kg respectively and different coupling-half masses. A larger rating does not prove the flange, docking geometry, signal package or utility connections are interchangeable. Ask for both mechanical drawings and the same installed-load schedule.
Compare moment limits, repeatability definition, cycle durability conditions, utility losses and service requirements for the complete proposed configuration. These limits were not established in the reviewed record. Do not transfer another manufacturer’s tool-changer ratings to either BRQC model.

When the proposal or trial does not match the task
Use this checklist to agree checks with the responsible supplier or integrator. It is procurement guidance, not an instruction to bypass guards, interlocks or the equipment manual.
| Published item / decision | How to use it | Limit to confirm |
|---|---|---|
| Tool coupling fails to confirm | Review docking geometry, part pairing, command sequence and required lock feedback. | Do not enable the tool or withdraw the robot on an unconfirmed coupling. |
| Air circuit performance changes after docking | Check assigned port/flow requirements and pressure at the coupling during use. | Six circuits and a supply-pressure range do not establish each circuit’s flow. |
| An off-centre tool passes the mass check | Request the RA08 moment limits and load-centre/acceleration conditions. | A 5 kg statement alone does not validate the motion. |
Resolve the supplied configuration and drawing
The published flange illustration and mounting-hole pattern belong to RA08; the supplier notes that mounting holes can be customized. Identify the drawing revision and which half each pattern describes. A custom hole pattern does not prove that the coupling, robot flange, utilities or stored-tool positions interchange with RA10.

Your inputs · local calculation
Build the complete mounted-mass schedule
The recorded two coupling halves contribute 0.33 kg. Add components once: exclude this fixed mass from your inputs. The result is robot-mounted mass, not a statement that the changer or robot permits this load.
Enter your project inputs to calculate. No inputs are uploaded or saved.
Formula: recorded component mass + additional tooling + adapters/other equipment + retained workpiece. No automatic rating pass/fail; moments, load centre, acceleration and model-specific conditions need review.
Compare competing proposals on the same basis
Ask each bidder to answer these items against the same drawings, parts and operating sequence. An unanswered item is a comparison gap, not a passed requirement.
| Decision | Documents to request | Check before ordering |
|---|---|---|
| 5 kg rated load | Bangrun’s statement of included masses and permitted loading and moment conditions. | A 5 kg rating proves suitability for any long tool. |
| 0.18 / 0.15 kg halves | Identification of the robot-side and tool-side components in the mounted assembly. | Both components disappear from the host robot’s load. |
| 0.40–0.60 MPa | The required supplied pressure conditions and the quoted pneumatic control arrangement. | A plant pressure gauge establishes pressure at the changer. |
| Six air circuits | Port arrangement and required flows; an itemised electrical-connector quotation if needed. | The air-circuit count includes separately quoted D-SUB hardware. |
Compare with RA10 only after identifying the missing limits
The two RA08 halves total 0.33 kg. The RA10 halves total 0.710 kg, a difference of 0.380 kg. This is an arithmetic comparison of recorded component masses, not a net payload or robot performance rating. Ask the supplier how the selected coupling and adapters enter its allowable loading check.
Published moment limits, status-sensing package, permitted docking tolerance and loss-of-pressure behaviour are not established in this entry. ATI’s guidance supports asking about load geometry and utilities; it cannot supply missing BRQC limits. Keep those items unresolved until the quotation includes model-specific documentation.
Worked sourcing brief
Worked example for planning a quotation.
Assume the selected tool and workpiece weigh 4.2 kg without either RA08 half or adapters. Adding the recorded halves gives a 4.53 kg host-robot subtotal before adapters and other items. The coupling may use a different rating boundary, so ask Bangrun to define it rather than treating this subtotal as a 5 kg coupling pass. Tool moment and robot loading remain separate reviews.
What to record before acceptance
Agree the test method, responsibilities and pass conditions before ordering. The items below are records to request, not a completed validation.
- Keep the RA08 drawing revision, mounted-load schedule and supplier-confirmed rating boundary.
- Record the actual quoted air connections, pressure requirements and any electrical hardware.
- Have the supplier document coupling status and exception conditions and the integrator validate the application sequence.
Buyer questions
Is RA08’s electrical connector included?
The supplier notes D-SUB connectors are quoted separately. Request the exact connector and scope; do not infer it from the six air circuits.
Can RA10 limits be used for RA08?
No. Ask for RA08-specific load, mounting and operating conditions.
