Manufacturer data
Published specifications
The SHIP SVAI-850S is a three-axis servo traverse robot for injection molding part extraction. The manufacturer lists a single-section arm structure, a maximum load of 4 kg and compatibility with injection molding machines in the 120–300 ton range. Published linear travel is 850 mm vertically, 730 mm crosswise and 1350 mm along the traverse axis. The catalog states a minimum take-out time of 1.4 seconds; the actual cycle depends on the mold, part and installation. Confirm the complete end-of-arm tooling load and machine interface before selection. The image shows the corresponding product family.

Start with the molded part and removal path
The SVAI-850S is published as a three-axis single-arm arrangement for injection-molding take-out. This page concerns removal and transfer; it does not establish suitability for every assembly, trimming or packaging task after release.
The stated 4 kg load is a shortlist limit to clarify with the supplier. Put the gripper, adapters, hoses and retained part into the load schedule. Ask whether that rating includes the complete installed tooling and what centre-of-gravity and acceleration conditions apply. Press clamping force does not describe the mold opening or the available pickup pose.

What the headline parameters mean
| Published item / decision | How to use it | Limit to confirm |
|---|---|---|
| 850 mm vertical travel | Check pickup depth, raised clearance and mold opening together. | Travel is not clearance at every pose. |
| 730 mm cross travel / 1,350 mm traverse | Plot the part pickup and deposit locations relative to the proposed mount. | An adequate stroke does not prove the gripper avoids tie bars. |
| 120–300 ton press range | Provide the press model, mounting drawing and mold envelope. | Tonnage alone does not establish mechanical compatibility. |
| 1.4 s minimum extraction time | Ask for the conditions and timing start/stop points used. | Extraction time is not the complete molding or cell cycle. |

Build the take-out sequence before selecting tooling
- Mark press-ready, mold-open and robot-entry signals on a shared sequence diagram. Include loss-of-signal and restart states.
- Define approach, grip confirmation, removal and retreat positions using the actual mold and the largest retained part.
- Choose a release position that supports the part without deforming it; include hot surfaces, runners and any downstream check.
- Demonstrate manual recovery after a failed grip or interrupted cycle, with access conditions established by the integrator.
Separate the robot from the delivered cell
| Published item / decision | How to use it | Limit to confirm |
|---|---|---|
| Base robot and controls | Exact controller, software version, travel arrangement and mounting kit. | The listing is not an orderable bill of materials. |
| End-of-arm tooling | Gripper layout, total mass, retained-part method and grip confirmation. | Gripper, sensors and adapters are not assumed included. |
| Press interface and guarding | Signal list, mechanical drawings, safety functions and validation responsibility. | Three axes do not define the required safety performance. |
| Installation and support | Utilities, commissioning, training, spares and destination support. | A product image does not prove delivery scope. |
SVAI or SVAW: compare the arrangement before the rating
The published SVAI-850S and SVAW-850S share the stated 850 / 730 / 1,350 mm travel and 120–300 ton press range. The SVAI record states 4 kg and single-arm construction; SVAW states 5 kg and telescopic construction. Those differences do not show that one is automatically faster, more compact in the installed cell, or more reliable.
Ask for the mounted envelope in both parked and working positions, tooling allowance, press interface and timing conditions for the same mold. A telescopic description does not replace a dimensioned clearance drawing. Keep commercial scope and acceptance criteria identical when comparing quotes.

Accept the part, the recovery and the sustained cycle
When the proposal or trial does not match the task
Use this checklist to agree checks with the responsible supplier or integrator. It is procurement guidance, not an instruction to bypass guards, interlocks or the equipment manual.
| Published item / decision | How to use it | Limit to confirm |
|---|---|---|
| Part remains in the mold | Check the intended grip location, confirmation signal and actual opening envelope with the integrator. | Do not continue automatic entry after failed grip confirmation; agree a controlled recovery. |
| The stated extraction time cannot be met | Compare timing start/stop points, retained-part conditions and the complete mold/tool sequence. | A minimum catalog extraction value is not the complete press cycle. |
| Tool reaches the stroke limit or a tie bar | Review the mounted pickup/retreat path and full gripper envelope. | A headline travel increase does not prove clearance. |
Resolve the supplied configuration and drawing
The family heading uses a wider press range than this model row. Use the SVAI-850S row, 120–300 ton, rather than transferring the family heading to this model. The supplier also publishes a model dimension table; resolve its lettered drawing against the actual press mount before treating a travel figure as installation clearance.

A useful inquiry for this take-out robot
Your inputs · local calculation
Measure output over the same observation window
Use actual completed/first-pass accepted tasks from one observation window. For a molding trial count accepted take-outs, for the AGV count completed transport tasks. Include stops, queues, charging or interventions in the elapsed time; do not count rework as first-pass acceptance.
Enter your project inputs to calculate. No inputs are uploaded or saved.
Formula: completed/accepted count ÷ observation minutes × 60; accepted/completed fraction = completed/accepted count ÷ total attempts × 100. This is your observed task record, not a supplier specification.
Compare competing proposals on the same basis
Ask each bidder to answer these items against the same drawings, parts and operating sequence. An unanswered item is a comparison gap, not a passed requirement.
| Decision | Documents to request | Check before ordering |
|---|---|---|
| 4 kg maximum load | An itemised carried-load schedule and SHIP’s definition of what its stated maximum includes. | A part below 4 kg leaves the remainder automatically available for any tool. |
| Single-section arm | A model-specific mounting and installed-height drawing for the proposed machine. | 850 mm useful vertical travel defines the complete installed height. |
| Published strokes | Coordinates for pickup and discharge checked against the 850/730/1350 mm axes. | Axis stroke is a radial reach value. |
| 1.4 s minimum take-out | The manufacturer’s timing definition and a proposal for the buyer’s mold and gripper. | 1.4 s is a guaranteed full production cycle. |
Where this entry differs from the SVAW alternative
Both entries list a 120–300 ton machine range and the same three strokes. The directory therefore cannot choose between them on stroke length alone. Review the 4 kg versus 5 kg load, single-section versus telescopic arm and the model-specific mounting information. The machine range is a starting screen, not confirmation of a particular machine installation.
Unknown here are the complete mounting envelope, tool-load definition for the quoted setup, machine handshake and production-cycle conditions. Request these as quotation deliverables. Do not infer them from the series photograph or fill the missing values from another model.
Worked sourcing brief
Worked example for planning a quotation.
Assume the buyer’s carried assembly weighs 3.7 kg after parts, gripper and adapters are counted. This is below the published 4 kg figure by mass, but it is not an installation pass. Add the assembly geometry and required extraction path to the brief and ask SHIP to confirm its loading conditions. If a later gripper revision adds 0.6 kg, the total becomes 4.3 kg and the original mass screen must be repeated.
What to record before acceptance
Agree the test method, responsibilities and pass conditions before ordering. The items below are records to request, not a completed validation.
- Record the quoted single-section configuration and its mounting and machine-interface drawings.
- Keep the full carried-assembly mass and geometry with SHIP’s configuration response.
- Demonstrate extraction and discharge with the proposed mold, gripper and complete timing sequence.
Buyer questions
Is SVAI faster than SVAW in my production cell?
The recorded minimum take-out figures alone cannot answer that. Ask for equivalent test conditions and the full cycle for your installation.
Is the product image a configuration drawing?
No. It represents the corresponding family. Ask for the exact quoted model and assembly drawings.
